City of Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti Releases Sustainability pLAn for LA!

Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti’s office today unveiled its sustainability pLAn a detailed city sustainability strategy that lays out goals  for short-term and long-term sustainability achievements and the process to attain them over the next 20 years.

The plan addresses the “economy,” “environment,” and “equality” issues to ensure a “truly sustainable future.”

Among some of the plan’s visions:

  • Source 50% of water locally by 2035.
  • Increase cumulative total MW of energy storage capacity to at least 1654 MW by 2025.
  • Reduce GHG emissions below 80% of a 1990 baseline by 2050.
  • By 2017, start new construction of 17,000 new units of housing within 1,500 feet of transit.
  • Increase green investment in LA $2 Billion by 2035.
